What a terrific way to start the new year. This charming home is filled with Hidden Treasures. The lady of the home is downsizing and doing what most of us would like to do by moving into smaller quarters and starting over with new tastes and ideas and leaving most of her tried and treasured things for your shopping pleasure.
The 42 inch wide glass top table and 4 chairs are perfect for the kitchen or small dining room. It as an additional protective top that can be added to accommodate 6 chairs. It is in beautiful condition and has always been covered to preserve the glass.
The kitchen cupboards are filled with all kind of gourmet cooking tools. The lady of the house loved to cook and bake and you will find all you need to fill your kitchen. At the time of this writing we have not seen all of the cupboards so there will be surprises for all.
There is a beautiful refinished oak Singer treadle sewing cabinet complete with working sewing machine, as well as two almost new portable sewing machines. The owner loved to quilt and one is small enough to carry to quilting classes. There are several quilting books and great quilt scraps.
There is art on every wall and something for everyones taste. The large Art Deco mirror is perfect for the modern home.
Baskets are always a great gift idea or to add to storage in your bathroom. There are many to choose from including a large basket of shells that were picked up on the beach after Hurricane Hugo in South Carolina.
The glass front china / display cabinet is full of beautiful glass ware and Lenox. All will make beautiful gifts for Valentines Day. There are several containers that would be lovely with flowers or candy. The two Meridian triple silver plate cups have a lot of history and perfect for a collection.
The wooden TV cabinet is complete with TV. There are several pieces of electronics as well. The built in wall / book case has more treasures and gift ideas. There are several vintage pieces of pottery, including two Roseville vases, as well as some very nice books and interesting bottles. One of the interesting books is a very old book of Battles and Commanders of the Civil War. The book is from 1907. The cover is not in good condition because it was flooded in Hurricane Hugo in South Carolina, but the pictures and information are still in pretty good condition.
In the master bedroom is a really lovely queen brass bed complete with bedding. The Nathan Hale dresser and mirror, night table and lingerie chest are like new. The beautiful stained glass bedside lamps will be a great addition to any room. There are several really nice area rugs.
The garage holds many more treasures. There are some power tools, including a tile cutter and table saw. Gardening time is coming soon and the lady of the house is a Master Gardener, she is leaving many gardening books and several several almost new gardening tools. There is a very interesting potting shed that we could not see because of the snow but were told there are nice garden pots and more tools. We were also told there are several outdoor decorative items to go in the yard.
This promises to be a very fun and exciting day for all of us so be sure to grab your coat and join the fun.
The long driveway leading to the house is very narrow so you will have to park between the trees in the field so please be careful that the trees do not get damaged. The drive leading to the house will only be for pick up.
The turn-off of Highway 13 is just south of the Cape Charles traffic signal, look for the pink & black estate sale signs. Click here for directions.
