Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Welcome to another fabulous sale. This one is in Onancock on Poplar Cove Rd. As many of you are aware this is a narrow road with very deep ditches on both sides. The ditches sometimes are filled with water and because of this we are asking you to only park on one side of the road and to be very careful not to end up in one of these ditches. There is a long drive way that we will reserve for pick up only. Entrance will be through the garage.
This home is filled with art work by Willie Crocket, and Thelma Peterson to name just a few. Every room has special pieces that would make great Christmas gifts. There are some signed decoys and a canvas swan by a carver in South Carolina.
As you enter the den you will notice some wonderful books on decoys that will also make super Christmas presents. There is a terrific pine chest with its original paint as well as a very nice folding card table with reeded legs.
Next you cross over to the living room, you will see the beautiful custom made massive 1800’s cabinet with shelves and glass doors on top. This unique piece would be wonderful in an office, large dining room or kitchen. There is plenty of room for all your collectible pottery, china or unique books.
The very charming corner desk would be the perfect addition to any discerning lady’s office or bedroom. The rocker will be ideal for rocking all the little ones in your life.
After you leave the living room you pass into the entry hall where you will be surprised by the size of the Tall Case clock. It is 8 ft. In height and was made by an America Clock maker from New Jersey named George Hollinshead in the late 1700’s to early 1800’s. It has a white enameled dial with seconds subsidiary and calendar apertures and two weights. It does run and the chimes are delightful. We will have people at the sale to direct you in the proper way to move this wonderful piece and tell how to set it up when you take it home.
The dry sink will be a great addition to any home as well as the Windsor alumni chair from Pennsylvania and gold and black side chair. The painted mirror will remind you of the country and as you go up the stairs you will enjoy seeing yourself and others in the very nice chippendale mirror.
In the hall are two Andrew Wyeth prints framed and ready to take home and enjoy.
If you still enjoy typing you will find the electric typewriter is just what you are looking for. It was examined and is in great working condition.
In the master bedroom is the beautiful canopy bed complete with canopy. There is no mattress or box springs. The queen shaker style wooden bed has a beautiful very thick mattress and will be perfect for afternoon naps.
Upstairs you will find a pair of beautiful twin beds with all their linens. Also an extra large trunk with original lining. There are several oil lamps with feeds, one is original and the other has been wired. The early 1800’s dough box is in perfect condition. If you like early 1940’s furniture you will appreciate the porcelain top kitchen table with built in leaves.
The very large mahogany dresser with barley twist will be just the right thing for a bedroom or perfect for a side board in the dining room.
In the garage you find more hidden treasures besides the usual hand and garden tools. The great lobster trap makes a wonderful coffee table. The two bikes, both Trek have been cleaned up and the tires are in really good condition will come with their own helmets. A very nice Christmas present for someone special.
